The New Year's Resolution

What are we truly saying when we participate in New Year's Resolution making? It is my understanding that we are telling ourselves that we must, we better, we should...creating a whole lot of resistance to what we desire, creating things to feel like a struggle, telling ourselves (& the Universe) that what we want is difficult, and generally entering into the agreement (yet again) that to get it, we must fight for it.

It doesn't have to be this way, but in my experience with students, clients, human nature, this is often the subtext behind the resolution making that goes on at New Year's.

If instead we ask for the desire, resolve to expect it, to be supported in creating it, to receive it, and to feel worthy of it, we change the dynamic of the resolution from "i better, how will I, I must" to "I deserve" . We feel a lot better and have better results. We also save ourselves from the crappy feeling that comes from not measuring up. Resolve is a lot of energy "better" spent on creating!
