 Hello Friends, Just a quick note to say that I will return to your inbox for our regular Monday Musing next Monday. Yesterday I was surprised and swept away by an invite to an awards ceremony for my youngest daughter, who won an academic achievement award in both science and journalism. Join me in a “Yay Tess”! If I can give you a brief thought to carry you through the week, it’s this: We all deserve recognition. For showing up, for trying, for getting out of bed when it’s hard. For small acts of kindness, to ourselves, and to others. For seeking light when we feel dark. For asking for help. For being. For loving the only way we know how to. And sometimes for having the courage to excel. It’s by shining the light on those moments, those choices, that we grow our hope, and our willingness to express the love that we are —love that we have access to but can’t always find— to step out of the heavy burden of feeling “less than”. So this is me, looking at you with a lens of light and telling you. You have it inside of you. It didn’t skip you. You aren’t made of steel or sticks or snakes (I mean snakes can be beautiful too but whatever it’s a metaphor). You aren’t a faker. Walk across the stage and hold our your hand. This certificate is naming YOU. And for all of you who rain so many accolades and awards that honour rolls can’t roll out fast enough to keep up with your super stardom? Well you’re worthy too. You can stop anytime and I’ll still love you. That light’s INSIDE. It’s not in the paper. It’s okay if you want a day off. Or forever.
