It’s summer o’clock, which means it’s about time that we feel whatever it is that SUMMER means to us; the fragrance of lake water in our wavy windswept hair (btw it’s 30-60 bucks if you want to pay for this look in a bottle which may be much cheaper than a day off but also way less rewarding); or the crisp of an afternoon chardonnay on the tongue; or the carnival in swing, spinning flossy candy and Ferris wheels, the dings and sirens of impossible games and marching bands and concerts; quiet sun saturated days by the river where the icy rush erases all of the city sounds and chaos from your mind; shorts and dresses and a promise of love.
In the spirit of ice cream and wineries I bring you my summer blog series. The Drive In. I LOVE to teach you things and I love to dig into the hard stuff so that life and love can get easier for you. I also recognize that there is a time to go light, and we are all feeling it now. It’s not my version of the roaring twenties –lets save that for fall #imsoready —but for this deep dive into the bliss vibe I’m going to talk about movies. Movies and maybe shows and even songs! And I am going to give titles to watch and numbers to listen to as actual homework, kind of like the teacher who plays the movie during the last few lessons before sports day. YEP, I am that cool. As cool as a snow cone in a heat wave.
Of course I CARE ABOUT YOUR EDUCATION. I’m not going to feature just any movies. I’m going to feature those ones that have super teachable emotional moments so you can enjoy and also feel better in your world and your skin. You can vacay in pure bliss, knowing that you are progressing in deep and important ways while you float on that twenty foot swan with the golden wings that your buff BF pushes around while you take selfies (yep I actually witnessed it merely a week ago, lovelies). No judgment from me. My inner child was like Damn Bitches.
Here’s how it’s gonna work.
I’ll suggest the movie, or show, or song; you will go off and watch or listen. Just in case you have never seen it you will have a week SPOILER ALERT, before I talk all about it. Or to hell with order, to hell with structure, read ’em and watch ’em in any order you please.
The next week I’ll share my deep thoughts with you; I’ll draw your attention to a scene or lyric or an image and share with you what it teaches us and why it is so brilliantly impactful and how it can change your life.
And all you have to do is take a break, fire up the popping corn and uncork the wine.
You can even GUESS what scene I’m going to talk about.
You can bet your bestie, or your love interest, or your super fluffy pet hamster, Chad because Chad has a wild side, don’t ya know?
And one final note, EVEN if you have already seen it, or heard it, or even listened to me relate it to your life personally you lucky lucky ducky, I encourage you to play along! I promise you I’ll make it that much more meaningful. There will be extra butter, REAL butter and it will be LAYERED.
This week’s classic:
GOOD WILL HUNTING.
Yep, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s best creation.
Sit back and enjoy and I’ll be here next Monday with the hoe-down low-down.
Yippy ki yay cow patty!!!
That’s a Western greeting because where I live it’s all “we were tossed from hard core isolation don’t you dare get in an elevator with or have another human over to your house”, to full on RODEO,
BIGGEST OUTDOOR SHOW ON EARTH free for all.
Basically if you didn’t lose your life or your mind to covid we are bound and determined to get you there within the next ten days. I call that a party.
Much love,
— Erin
